My Debates
Introduction:
Whaling is a big problem in Japan that people are trying to stop. The IWC
law was created to stop the countries that are hunting whales. There is a
debate whether to stop or not. Also there is a problem with the
rainforest. They are being used up too much and is becoming a big problem. Whaling:
Affirmative/For: Japanese They do not believe the statistics about whales' extinction. They claim
that eating whale meat is an important cultural tradition for them. They
also blame the whales for depleting the world's fish stocks. Negative/Against: Sea Shepards Whales must be protected and saved so that future generations can
experience their presence and value. Whales are getting hunted because
people want the meat and they can use the skin for lots of uses. There is
a law called "(IWC)" but people still hunt the whales. Also, whales in
some cultures are very important
for some people. For example cows are sacred in India. Conclusion:
I hope the Japanese put an end to killing the whales and even though they
use the whales for products, because I think it is cruel to kill a living
animal. Rainforest:
Should companies be able to cut down rainforests to provide food for
people? Affirmative/For: Companies (like McDonalds)
Cutting down trees in the rain forests give people jobs and helps people
get money as well as provides food. Negative/Against: People fighting for the rainforest (Greenpeace, for
example)
Rain forests are sometimes called the "lungs of the earth" but they are
being destroyed because people want the wood, want the land for farms and
roads, which is bad because it prevents travel, and costs lots of people
money. Conclusion:
I think cutting down trees is wrong because the indigenous people that
live there will lose their homes. I know that food is important but it
won't be good if people's homes are being destroyed. Also, in the future,
if rainforests, which are the lungs of the earth, are being destroyed, the
environment will be worse.
